Elevated triglycerides – Tips what NOT to eat?


 

 

Cholesterol and triglycerides are different types of lipids. It is possible, if a person has high triglycerides, it also has high cholesterol, although there are exceptions. Triglycerides and cholesterol are an integral part of animal fat. Cholesterol does not occur in plants, and therefore is not present in vegetable oils.

 

 

 

The food below raises triglycerides, so you need to remove it from your diet:

 

    • Saturated fat: animal fat, all fried foods, cheese, cream, fatty meats, fast food

 

 

    • Trans fat: hydrogenated vegetable fats (margarine, fried foods, fast food) and commercial sweets – cookies, cakes, pies, crackers, etc.

 

 

    • Sugar

 

 

    • Starch and starch foods: pastries, pasta, rice, potatoes, pizza, popcorn, chips

 

 

    • Drinks: fruit juices, soft drinks, sports drinks, all sweetened drinks

 

 

    • Other foods: sweetened cereal, fruit yogurt, etc.

 

 

    • Alcohol: beer, wine, spirits
