Corporations are testing GMO bananas on students – Mr Fitbody

GMO around the world takes his step. The big corporations are trying to include it in our everyday diet, convincing us that it is for our own good

Corporations are testing GMO bananas on students

In the United States, at the University of Iowa, students are testing the new genetically modified bananas with artificial levels of beta carotene. GMO bananas are not the first global project which is offered as a solution for the lack of vitamin A worldwide. Before bananas, the worldwide infamous project was the “golden rice” which has failed on every testing.

These tests are conducted on people without previous experiments on animals. So, the consequences that might occur on people’s health are really unknown. “The Des Moines Register” reported that for the first tests will be selected 12 students out of 450 students who applied voluntarily. For doing this, they will receive 900 dollars on their account. That’s how the company who is conducting these tests has decided.

The students will consume GMO bananas for four days, in three different periods of their education. This project is intended for cultivation and use of bananas in poor African countries where there is a lack of vitamin A. GMO bananas, as a product, are resistant to bacterial diseases, worms and some parasites that can be found in ordinary food. Companies will have more safe production from the classic bananas, and thus more profits.

By 2020, these untested bananas should be grown in Uganda, and if the project gets the green light, cultivation will be expanded in Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania.

The opponents of the research are warning that the GMO bananas are not tested on any living creature. The consequences can be enormous, and it seems that no one cares about it, especially the big corporations. They emphasize that excess artificial vitamin A can be dangerous and toxic action.

At another side, there are many people, activists, which are against GMO. They are trying to raise awareness among people in order to stop these corporations who are trying to get money while millions are suffering.
